Canada Basketball

Kickback x Canada Basketball: A series of images featuring five local youth leaders from Regent Park.

The photos showcase the young athletes personalities, surrounded by quotes in their own handwriting describing why they love basketball, their future aspirations, and what makes them happy.

“Kickback made me feel famous when
I was invited to a photo shoot. Kickback is just a really fun space and makes me feel good about myself.”

Black Lives for Change

31 May 2022

In 2022, one of our biggest goals was to increase how often we distributed footwear in communities. Partnering with Black Lives For Change, we provided over 500 pairs throughout the city and in Jamaica.

Black Lives For Change led the way in facilitating the monthly distribution, and we collaborated with them on the experience. Since day one, one thing that has been consistent for us is that giving out sneakers is secondary to the exchange of mentorship, guidance, opportunity, and, most importantly, inspiration.

Community is defined as a collective of people who live in the same place, but for us it means family.

Shoot For Peace – Eid Editorial

29 April 2022

Exchanging gifts on Eid, especially to kids, is customary for Muslims. Eid is a day of joy and happiness, signifying the end of Ramadan. We collaborated with Shoot For Peace because some youth and families crossover between our program and theirs. To show our appreciation, we surprised them on set with new sneakers – ensuring they’re well-suited for the summer months while acknowledging their growth throughout Ramadan.

Air Max Day

25 March 2022

For Air Max Day 2022, Livestock Canada gave us the opportunity to highlight youth redefining the blueprint. We reminded them that the only way to break out of the box they try to keep us in is by being ourselves.

Express yourself, that’s the only way

Our collective effort is what results in Kickback establishing a new blueprint for non-profit organizations moving forward.

Hooper’s Loop

24 March 2022

This year with Hoopers Loop and Puma Hoops, we wanted to equip young female athletes with a type of understanding that extends beyond the basketball court. For 4 days, we worked on skills that transcend sport; Communication, Leadership, Boundaries, and Patience. To ensure these skills were presented in a way conducive to understanding, we brought in some of the best female leads to ensure representation was apparent.

Hooper Loop – 2022

Over the course of four days, we bridged gaps between communities often separated, we ensured they had healthy meals, and we got them to think outside the lines their communities and environment try to keep them in.
